Sunny Day

It was another beautiful day here in Calgary, the third in a row, so it really feels like summer now! The kids are off school as well. I've been looking forward to school being finished but this first week has been very busy with Blake and Jack playing all-star baseball. Two practices at two different places and we are looking at four games in the next 3 days for Jack. Busy but fun! July will certainly be packed with baseball.

On another note, we got to see Nolan at home today! He was released much sooner than anticipated but so great for him to be in his own home. We'll keep praying for healing. We are really looking forward to helping Peter and Michele out and also grateful that Nolan is alive and on the way to being well!

I am so missing scrapping as I have not done any for almost two weeks now and it's not looking like much if any will happen any time soon although that hasn't stopped me from adding to my stash. There is a great sale going on at www.scrapshotz.com right now so check it out!

Be back sometime this weekend with some baseball scores! Go Bowridge Go!

Last Weekend

In yesterday's post I mentioned my niece's wedding in Kelowna this past weekend. We had a wonderful time albeit short. Here are some photos of our fun:

The view from the beautiful location of the wedding in West Kelowna.
The bride walking down the aisle with her father (my brother).
The newlyweds, Kip and Kristen.
The reception tent and decorations.
Myself, brother Norm and sister Jenni.
Ray and I and a gorgeous view!
The reception decorations by candlelight.

Best wishes to Kip and Kristen and thanks for inviting us to share your special day with you!

New News!

Just a quick post to get up to speed as it is LATE! I will post photos and more words tomorrow! We've were away in West Kelowna for my niece's wedding this past weekend. We got back home late Sunday night. Then a busy day with laundry and tidying up, picking up report cards and a haircut and baseball practice. Both boys are playing All-Star baseball this July so we are so excited for them and proud of them.  We want to visit Nolan tomorrow and are so excited that he is healing up!

More info tomorrow and hopefully a scrapbook lo to share as well!

Weddings, Baseball & Misc

Has it been 3 days since my last post? Wow time flies! We were at a wedding Saturday and then spent Father's Day at the ball diamond. Here are some pictures of Joel and his bride Ashley:

The Happy Couple
Groom's Uncle, Mom and Uncle

We had a lovely time! Best wishes for a happy future Joel and Ashley!

While we were at the wedding my sister was looking after the kids and brought her new dog, a 4 pound chihuahua named Chico.

Yes the dog is walking on his 2 front legs! He was born with a birth defect in one of his back legs and walks on his 2 front legs the majority of the time. He was rescued from Tijuana.

On the baseball front,

the boys team is out of the playoffs, Blake had a brutal game and he was very disappointed in himself. It's the only bad game he's had out of 20 games played this year. Poor guy was in tears but the whole team played poorly so the loss wasn't any one persons fault. On to other things now.  Both boys are trying out for the All-Star team in their respective age groups. Jack will be playing AAA Minors All-Stars. As he played last year he is on the team as a returning player. Blake is trying out for the Majors A/AA All- Star team (11/12 yr.olds). If he makes it we will have an exceptionally busy July but Ray and I are okay with that. Blake making the all-star team would lift his confidence and self-esteem astronomically!! He has practices Saturday, Sunday and Monday. The team will be selected on Monday. Good luck Blake!

The other day Blake asked to play games on his iPod touch and set up Cole to play my iPod touch.
So cute seeing them both playing, even though I'm sure Cole has no idea what he's doing. Yes I admit I'm crazy allowing a 2 year old to play an iPod touch.

This is the kids last week of school so all their workbooks, duo-tangs and projects are coming home. Here is Peyton with here first big research project:

Their last day will be Thursday and then they will spend the weekend with Grandma D. while Ray and I are in Kelowna.

Phew! What a long post but now we're all caught up. I'll have at least one scrapbook project to share tomorrow!

Hello Sunshine!!!

What a beautiful day here today! The temp got up to 26C at one point, according to my van anyways, and now I am sporting a slight sunburn! Love it! This spring has been so cold and rainy to date. I hope we now have summer!

Hubby and I were at a wedding in Canmore yesterday and it was fabulous! So great seeing our nephew Joel marry his beloved, Ashley. It was a great wedding and so great to see Joel starting a new life. Can't wait to see what the Lord has in store for him and his new family!

After church this morning we grabbed a quick bite of food at home and then took the boys to their baseball game. The Royals lost a close one by one run so with 2 losses in the playoffs now and one game to go they are pretty much eliminated. All-Star season is next!

With this busy weekend I still managed to do a layout for a layout tag at Scrapshotz:

Happy Father's Day to all the dads as well!

Saturday, June 19, 2010

Quick post this morning. We have a busy day ahead of us, yard work, get the boys to batting practice and back home, wedding and reception in Canmore then home late.

I've been tagged in the layout tag at Scrapshotz and now have 24-48 hrs. to completed my layout. This will be a toughie as we have church tomorrow morning followed by a baseball game so there won't be much time to get to it this weekend. I will have to sneak in some scrapping here and there!

The Royals lost their ball game last night, they just weren't sharp so they'll try for a win tomorrow afternoon!

Does this look familiar?

By golly it's the SUN! We've seen so little of it in the last week I almost forgot what it looked like! I had to capture the image and I'm glad I did since it is now cloudy outside.

After Cole and I went to the grocery store my fridge looked like this:

It gives me a good feeling seeing it full, like my family is very well cared for. Now to make sure we eat everything and throw NOTHING away.

While I prepped some vegetables for dinner tonight Cole occupied himself like this:

He's "reading" his book, it's actually the instructions for Super Mario for Wii. He loves looking at the pictures of course.

Lastly today is a card I made last night for Jack's teacher:

All the patterned paper is from Cosmo Cricket. I must admit I am finding it challenging using this line. It's the Material Girl line. It's probably because it's not something I would normally work with but I welcome the challenge of using it!

I've got to start supper as we are off to a baseball game this evening. Peyton and Cole are coming along too. Go Royals Go!!

Okay I'm not going to mention the weather around here because it's not worth talking about! This is what it looks here today:

Enough said about that!

I finally got around to this baby card for an acquaintance that gave birth to twins last month. Here's the finished result:

I've also completed a couple of cards for some Scrapshotz challenges. This first one is for a male themed card:

This next one is to make a card specifically for a teacher:

That's it for today! Stay dry all!

Rain, Rain Go Away

Yes it is raining AGAIN! Anytime it wants to stop is okay by me! At this point it looks the boys baseball game will not take place tonight which means a make up game will probably happen this weekend. The team won their game on Monday 18-4, they put up 14 runs in one inning! The playoffs are next, probably beginning next week and then all-star tryouts as well. Jack will be playing all-stars for sure and it looks like Blake may do so as well which is HUGELY exciting for him but we will wait for the official say-so from the coaches before we get really excited about it.

As I shared in Monday's post, the younger kids went camping with their dad and here are some photos from that trip:

Peyton giving Cole a ride on the mini-quad, he hated it.

Someone is supposed to be sleeping.

Enjoying hanging out in the trailer.

A stop in Sparwood to see the super-huge mining truck.

The Gang's All Here

My wonderful husband and 2 youngest children arrived home last night after 4 days of camping. While all went well according to my husband, he did say that he did not think we can all be out in the trailer together this summer. There is just too much to distract the little guy and when we veer from the routine, I am completely ANNOYED & TICKED OFF.

I can't help it, it's a character flaw but I really like a routine especially for the 2 year old. I so enjoyed a few days with him gone. Does that make me a bad mom? I don't think so. It was nice to be in my own home rather than having to go away for a break from all the work a 2 year old entails. When the 3 older ones were little it was all at the same time so having this little one 6 years after the youngest really poses a challenge at times. It's hard when you want to give time and attention to the older kids but the little guy is crabby 'cause he missed his nap or wants to be snuggled NOW.  I know the time passes quickly and before you know it, the little one is now a big kid, I'm living that with his siblings!

So for now, we'll hang in there and make the best of the not so picture perfect moments and circumstances and remember that we do not walk through this life completely on our own-I truly, truly believe that. My God walks alongside me, now I just need to stop ignoring Him.

Off to get the little guy out of his crib where he has not been napping!

Saturday Already...

Wow, how quick the days fly by! I didn't realize I had not posted since Wednesday!!

Firstly, my small group put on our CIA2 fundraiser Thursday evening and I made my stage debut in the drama, an essential non-speaking role, I know that is an oxymoron! I had a great time and the evening was a tremendous success! We raised around $5,000.00 and the $750 in seed money was barely touched. So many people were so generous in donating to our cause. God is so very, very good!

I let the boys stay home from school on Friday and we went to the library, chose books and spent the entire afternoon reading until supper and then off to Foothills for the boys baseball game. They played very well and won the game. The boys had a 10am game this morning that they lost but guess what?? They have another game tomorrow evening so hopefully the team can get back to winning form! We came home and had some lunch and then Jack and I went for a walk while Blake finished his homework corrections and then joined us. We had a one hour walk and talk and just really enjoyed hanging out together! They are now playing ipod Touch while I catch up on my computer work. I will get supper started here. Before I go here are a few more scrapbook lo's to share with you:

For those of you the Calgary area, enjoy the forecasted, fabulous day tomorrow! Thanks for reading!

Rain...Again...

Well the boys ball game was rained out this evening...bummer! Especially since Ray has taken our adorable 2 year old boy and lovely 8 year old daughter out to B.C. for a few days. They will be camping in the trailer at Shutty Bench. Apparently the weather is no better there either. I hope it gets nicer for them.
This is the first time Cole has gone away without Mommy. If I'm being honest, I do miss him, mostly his sweet cuddles! I'm wishing them a great time!

I had my first Pilates exercise class today and I really enjoyed it! Looking forward to learning a new kind of exercise for me!

Since I am completely childless during the day for a few days while Blake and Jack are in school I have 2 days of errands planned. It's off to Wal-Mart and MarketMall tomorrow and then to the Silver Springs Community Centre in the evening for my small group's CIA2 fundraiser.

Here are a few of my latest scrapbook projects!

This was for a DT challenge at Scrapshotz to use stamping, summer, sunshine, sparkle and stitching on a lo.
This one was for Jess's DT challenge to scrapbook a daytrip. This was our family's trip to visit the McCormick Ranch Train Park in Scottsdale, AZ.
This lo was for Stephanie's "Stamp Your Title" DT challenge.

Scrapshotz has so many talented people and fantastic challenges so make sure you check it out if you haven't yet. Click on the link  near the top RH side of my blog.

When the sunshine comes back I'll be posting some new projects.

Stay dry!

Getting Ready for the Fundraiser

So I am in a small group at Rock Pointe Church and we are working on fundraiser for the church wide Compassion in Action 2 project. I went to the final rehearsal and it will be a great show!

Unfortunately we only have around 35 people confirmed to attend. A far cry from the 200 we were hoping to entertain. It's my prayer tonight that we will be amazed at the number of people that actually end up attending. The purpose is to help the victims of Human Trafficking in various places around the world.

May God shine His face upon our efforts!

See you tomorrow!

Saturday and last "A Week In the Life" Reveal Pages

The day began early with the boys baseball game which ended up being delayed due to rain. The Royals got off to a bad start making a whole whack of errors and giving up 9 runs in the first inning. The clawed their way back but were unable to catch up losing 11-8. On to the next game Monday!

Here are my last couple of days of lo's for Ali Edwards "Week In the Life" project:

Sunday

I enjoyed this project but would work harder at the journaling-keeping up with it-as it did seem a bit overwhelming once I sat down to put the whole thing together.

It's Friday & another Week In the Life Page

The end of the week has arrived. Little miss Peyton make the ride to school with Daddy and came right back home again. She's sick with a sore throat and cough. She rested all day and had a nap in the afternoon. My lovely cleaning lady, Vangie, came this morning so I was able to take Cole out for a long bike ride and then sort through some photos.
Poor Cole is working on some more teeth. His appetite is off and he has had 4 fingers in his mouth quite frequently today.
Since it's Friday, I am not cooking so it's leftover night and my lucky sister was able to drop in for some reheated dinner!
I've got a scrapbook lo started, on of the DT Challenges from SSZ and I will get it finished today!!

Here is the Thursday and Friday pages from the Ali Edwards Week In the Life Project:

Back tomorrow after the boys baseball game. Go Royals Go!!!

Week In The Life Reveal-Wednesday

After a beautiful day of sunshine the gray skies and rain showers are back. It's better than snow! At least the weather was nice for the boys baseball game last night. It turned into a nail-biter with the Royals holding the Centennial team off 7-6 to win the game. Blake make it on base on a fielders choice and Jack walked once. Both came in to score one time.

I slept in today, ran on the treadmill, shopped at Costco, picked up photos and watched Session 3 of the bible study Britt and I are working on together. Later I hope to do some coloring with my Copics.

Here is another layout from the Week In the Life Ali Edwards project I completed:

Until tomorrow, stay warm!
